Welcome to CS 766: Computer Vision

(Spring 2014)

This course will provide an introduction to computer vision, including such topics as image formation, feature extraction, calculating motion estimates, image mosaics, 3D shape reconstruction, object recognition, and image segmentation. These techniques will be discussed in the context of problems including building 3D maps, organizing photo and video databases, human computer interaction, surveillance, automatic vehicle navigation, and performing general purpose inference from image data. We will also discuss applications of these ideas to other disciplines.


  • Data structures and Algorithms
  • basic proficiency in C++/JAVA programming and/or Matlab
  • basic proficiency in probability, calculus, and linear algebra
